Human Community Life

Speaks no earlier than some one to in support of individualism with a smart people will want to isolate individuals, accusing human community life to destroy it. But this really is a bunk bed and is either a misunderstanding or a for-a-out attempt at distortion.

Just because human adults require independence of spirit and a sphere of personal authority, which is secured by protecting their fundamental rights, it doesn't mean that they are not much benefit from community life. There is little that is more satisfying for humans than some form of association that they can forge with their fellow man. Think of marriage, family, company, team, choir, Orchestra, etc, with the numerous ways people come together and get the most out of it.

Unfortunately, there is a way of the formation of communities who is just not suitable for people, coercively, when they are driven in groups they did not choose, based on their own understanding and objectives. That is very much what prisons are involuntary, communities, and the only reason they are supposed to exist is to the home of those of us who refuse to live peacefully with their fellow man.

No defense of individualism except the grossest sort omits the fact that when individuals come together much of what makes their life worth as possible by their togetherness is created. And, Yes, initially we are involuntary members of a community, the family, at least until we grow up and have reached the age of free choice. That is indeed what parents and guardians should strive to raise children, to prepare them when they all for becoming competent, loving, responsible, and adventurous, independent adults.

Undermines this group forcibly people immediately by yet the young people of their chance to hone their skills in making decisions for themselves, decisions that are usually quite different from the decisions of others want to make. That's because we are all unique in many ways, all the while that we are much alike. If one of my favorite philosophers him Steve Martin in his novel, "The Pleasure of My Company," "people, I thought. These are people. Their general uniformity was interrupted only by their individual diversity. "

Of course, that much of this is clear from the history of the more draconian and brutal attempts to us all, such as those witnessed in the 20th century, but also back in ancient Sparta. But unfortunately too many people remain committed to the vision of human associations without remembering that the "human" should be followed when one very closely on this one. The man, more than anything else in the world, are individuals, with minds of their own that how much they learn from others in the operation of their own initiative. While pretty much hardwired other living beings to do the right thing by their nature, is our nature that we have to learn what that is right thing, and then start doing our own free will. This is primarily, the source of one another's individuality, while, of course, our physical Constitution quite that many duplicates itself in all of us (though even there is a lot of unique for everyone).

You might forgive me for bringing in a little personal history here, but I have some experience, namely of which lived under communism for much of my early years. And my father was an ardent fascist, in support of the Nazis throughout his life. And neither of these recommends itself for a promising human community life. Not one of the Communities that try to go just a little in their direction, remember that they can somehow squaring the circle.

Human communities are indeed marvelous, but only when they do not squash the human individual. When they do, when they try to compromise the principles of individualism, look out. They will try to lie and cheat and bamboozle since only this way can be made compelling community life credible. They will highlight the fantastic goals and forget about the vicious resources to which they intend to reach them, such as conscript armies or schools or any other collective efforts that we're not asked, but are forced to join.
